We will never release any personal information on any living person without that person’s specific permission. We will especially take steps to ensure that your contact information (e-mail or mailing address, telephone number, etc.) is never released or sold without specific permission. If you see any personal information that you do not wish to have displayed, please contact us for immediate removal. Participants in the DNA Project are afforded additional protections of DNA test data, if desired.

However, users of any Internet-based genealogy site should realize that any information made available on the net is public by its nature. Therefore, we will assume that any information submitted to us for inclusion in the Family Tree or other portions of the site containing genealogical specifics has been voluntarily released to the general public by the submitter.

Likewise, information on deceased persons is assumed to be public knowledge.

Many genealogy sites use a “privacy” feature that allows inclusion of some information (usually just the name) on certain individuals, while secreting any other information. We do not use such a feature for two reasons. We do not believe that the “privacy” feature has value to researchers doing serious genealogy work. Also, we do not wish to be responsible for administration of information of a sensitive nature. Therefore, we leave the decision to the site user/contributor:

IF YOU DO NOT WISH YOUR INFORMATION TO BE POSTED ON THE INTERNET, PLEASE DO NOT SHARE IT WITH US!!!
